MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641113109 A) filed by Dr. M. G. R. Educational & Research Institute on September 21, 2026, for Postpartum Uterine Tone Monitoring System.

Inventors include J. Eswari; Hema. V. H; and Vinitha Deva Kumari. P.

The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a postpartum uterine tone monitoring system (100) for continuous external monitoring of uterine activity following delivery. The system (100) includes a uterine activity sensing unit (102) having at least one pressure sensor or transducer positioned over an abdominal region corresponding to the uterine fundus and retained by an adjustable fixation belt (104). Mechanical pressure variations associated with uterine firmness and contraction are converted into electrical signals and processed by a signal processing unit (106) and controller (108) to determine uterine contraction information. A display unit (110) presents the information, while an alarm unit (114) generates an alert when a monitored parameter satisfies a predetermined inadequate-tone criterion. A wireless communication module (118) communicates the information to a remote monitoring device (120). The system thereby provides continuous postpartum uterine monitoring, threshold- responsive alerting and remote presentation without intrauterine sensor placement.
