The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: A postoperative chest drainage device (1) for draining fluids that originate from the chest of a patient and which comprise liquids and/or gases, comprising: - a reservoir (9) for collecting the liquids, - an inlet connector (7), adapted to be connected to a drainage duct (D), - an air-liquid separation device (4) positioned between the inlet connector (7) and the reservoir (9); wherein the air-liquid separation device (4) comprises a container body (6) which defines inside it a fluid passage chamber (61) and comprises: a fluid inlet opening (81) for the ingress of the fluids, a liquid outlet opening (82) for the egress of the liquids in the direction of the reservoir (9), a gas outlet opening (19) which is associated with a one-way valve (21), a hydrophobic filtering element (5) which prevents the passage of liquids through the gas outlet opening (19); the air-liquid separation device (4) comprises an emergency vent valve (50) adapted to allow the passage of gas to the outside environment (A), when the pressure in the fluid passage chamber (61) is higher than a threshold value; the emergency vent valve (50) is positioned so that the exiting gas can pass through it without passing through the hydrophobic filtering element (5).
