Abstract: A portable spirometry system is designed for respiratory function analysis, featuring an airflow sensing module that receives respiratory airflow during a forced exhalation maneuver. The system includes a processing unit that processes signals from the airflow sensing module to compute pulmonary parameters such as Forced Vital Capacity (FVC), Forced Expiratory Volume in one second (FEV1), and Peak Expiratory Flow (PEF). The airflow sensing module incorporates a flow restriction element with variable cross- sectional geometry to create a pressure difference, measured by a differential pressure sensor. The processing unit, equipped with an embedded microcontroller, applies a computational model based on fluid mechanics to correlate the pressure difference to airflow rate, performs numerical integration to determine exhaled volume, and extracts pulmonary parameters. A wireless communication module transmits these parameters to a cloud-based data management platform for storage and visualization. Fig. 1
