Abstract: ABSTRACT The present invention discloses a portable solar-powered face mask sanitization and disposal device for safe, decentralized management of used personal protective equipment (PPE). The device comprises a solar power subsystem including a solar panel, charge controller, rechargeable battery, and DC-DC power supply, electrically coupled to a microcontroller-based control unit. An insulated sanitization chamber incorporates a ceramic heating element, circulation fan, and air-duct arrangement to generate and uniformly distribute controlled dry heat within a predetermined temperature range of 70°C to 85°C for a predefined sanitization cycle, thereby deactivating microbial contaminants without chemical disinfectants. The control unit continuously monitors chamber temperature, door status, and battery condition through integrated sensors while enforcing safety interlocks and cycle control. Upon successful completion of sanitization, a compression subsystem compacts the sanitized face masks into sealed biodegradable pods for hygienic handling and environmentally sustainable disposal. The invention provides an energy-efficient, off-grid, portable, and intelligent solution suitable for hospitals, healthcare facilities, rural communities, disaster relief operations, and other remote environments requiring safe PPE waste management.
