Abstract: The present invention relates to a portable real-time electrocardiogram (ECG) monitoring and abnormal heart activity detection system using Internet of Things (IoT) and Machine Learning techniques. The system comprises surface ECG electrodes, an AD8232 ECG signal conditioning module, an ADS1115 analog-to-digital converter, and a Raspberry Pi Zero W as the central processing unit. The ECG signals acquired from the subject are amplified, filtered, digitized, and processed in real time using a signal processing algorithm for noise removal and R-peak detection. Cardiac features including R–R interval, heart rate, QRS duration, and R-peak amplitude are extracted and provided to a trained Support Vector Machine (SVM) classifier to identify normal and abnormal heart activity. The processed ECG waveform, heart rate, and classification results are displayed on a remote monitoring device through wireless communication enabled by the built-in Wi-Fi module of the Raspberry Pi Zero W. The system further supports continuous monitoring, data logging, and remote health surveillance, making it suitable for home healthcare, telemedicine, and early detection of cardiovascular abnormalities. The invention provides a compact, portable, low-cost, and energy-efficient solution for real-time cardiac monitoring with improved accessibility compared to conventional hospital-based ECG systems
