MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641105638 A) filed by Saveetha Institute Of Medical And Technical Sciences on September 02, 2026, for Portable Point Of Care Diagnostic Device For Early Detection Of Anemia.
Inventors include Yoguru Parthasaradhin; Dr. M. Abdullah; Rithika Srinivasan; and Dr Ramya Mohan.
The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.
Abstract: One of the most common health problems in the world today is anemia, especially in rural areas with limited access to laboratory testing and places with few resources. Conventional hemoglobin measurement methods require specialized personnel and laboratory facilities, and they are timeconsuming and invasive. The main objective of this invention is to provide a point-of-care diagnostic tool for the non-invasive early detection of anemia that is portable, reasonably priced, and easy to use. The optical biosensing module of the suggested portable anemia diagnostic system is based on a MAX30102 sensor and uses fingertip photoplethysmography to estimate hemoglobin levels noninvasively. The primary controller for gathering sensor input, processing hemoglobin estimating algorithms, and displaying the outcomes in real time is an embedded microcontroller unit. The device does not require complicated external equipment because it has an LCD display for instantaneous visualization of hemoglobin levels and anemia status. The device further comprises a finger-clip mechanism for proper sensor alignment, a rechargeable power supply for portable operation, and status indication through visual alerts for normal, moderate, and low hemoglobin levels. The compact enclosure ensures ease of use in homes, clinics, rural health camps, and point-of-care environments
