Abstract: The present invention relates to a hardware-integrated oral screening and triage system implementing an Oral Screening / Oral Status Index and Triage (OSIT) framework for structured assessment of oral health conditions. The system comprises a portable intraoral imaging device including a miniature camera module and controlled LED illumination for capturing standardised intraoral images, a wireless communication interface for transmitting image and subject data, and a low-power microcontroller enabling standalone operation. A digital proforma module implemented on a smartphone or tablet facilitates structured data collection. A scoring engine processes intraoral images using image analysis algorithms to extract clinical features and combines them with questionnaire inputs to compute a composite OSIT index. A classification module maps the index to risk categories, and an output module generates a screening report including annotated images, index values, risk levels, and triage recommendations. The system enables rapid, standardised, and scalable oral health screening suitable for community settings, tele-dentistry integration, and early detection and prioritisation of oral conditions.
