Abstract: Portable Multispectral Sensor with Embedded Calibration for Honey Adulteration Detection This invention describes a portable multispectral spectroscopy-based sensor system for rapid detection and quantification of invert sugar syrup adulteration in honey. The system includes a compact enclosure, controlled broadband illumination, a fixed cuvette-based optical path, a multispectral sensor, a microcontroller, an electronic switching circuit, an integrated display, and embedded calibration software. During operation, light transmitted through a honey sample is captured across selected visible and near-infrared spectral bands. A baseline calibration routine compensates for optical losses caused by reflection, scattering and enclosure-related variation. The corrected spectral response is processed using an optimized wavelength channel and compared with stored calibration data obtained from honey samples containing known adulterant concentrations. The estimated adulteration percentage is displayed in real time without requiring external laboratory instruments or computer-based analysis. The system provides a portable, reproducible and field-deployable platform for honey quality assessment.
