Abstract: A portable grain quality assessment apparatus integrates paper-based multi-parameter colorimetric sensor technology with smartphone-based image analysis and artificial intelligence-driven prediction models for rapid field-level evaluation of grain quality parameters. The apparatus comprises a paper-based sensor strip having multiple sensing regions containing colorimetric reagents that generate visible color changes in response to protein content, moisture level, and contamination indicators; a smartphone equipped with a dedicated mobile application for capturing digital images of the developed sensor strip; an image processing module configured to extract RGB values, HSV values, and intensity values from the sensing regions following calibration using a reference region; an artificial intelligence prediction engine comprising machine learning models trained with crop-specific calibration to predict grain quality parameters from the extracted color features; and a quality grading module that generates automated quality scores, classification grades, and digital reports integrable with procurement management systems through application programming interface connections, with optional cloud database storage supporting traceability analytics across agricultural supply chains.
