MUMBAI, India, Oct. 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611101291 A) filed by Indian Council Of Agricultural Research on August 21, 2026, for Portable Electronic Starch Indicator For Cassava Tubers.

Inventors include Krishnakumar Thulasimani; Sajeev Moothandassery Sankarakutty; Mohan Chokkappan; and Pradeepika Chintha.

The application for the patent was published on October 02, 2026, under issue no. 40/2026.

Abstract: An electronic starch indicator system (100) for on-site determination of starch content in fresh cassava tubers is disclosed. The system (100) comprises a load cell (104), signal interface circuit (106), microcontroller (108), display unit (110), user control unit (112), power supply unit (114), suspension assembly (120), sample holder (122), and liquid container (124). A load corresponding to a fresh cassava tuber sample is sequentially applied to the load cell (104) as an air-weight measurement input (102-A) under an air-weight condition (126-A) and as a submerged-weight measurement input (102-B) under a submerged-weight condition (126-B). The load cell (104) generates corresponding electrical outputs. The microcontroller (108) determines specific gravity using specific-gravity calculation data (108-A) and determines a starch-content value using stored calibration data (108-B) representing an empirically established cassava-specific relationship. The determined starch-content value is displayed on the display unit (110).
