Abstract: ABSTRACT The present invention relates to a portable electrocardiogram (ECG) device designed for real-time cardiac monitoring in non-clinical environments. The device comprises an ECG sensor operably connected to a microcontroller unit configured to process cardiac signals and display waveforms on an integrated TFT screen. A rechargeable lithium-ion battery provides uninterrupted portable operation, while user interface buttons enable simple control functions. Unlike conventional bulky ECG machines, the invention offers a compact, low-cost, and energy-efficient solution, capable of capturing and displaying cardiac activity in real time without requiring hospital-grade infrastructure. The device is further adaptable for integration with wireless communication modules for data transfer to external devices or telemedicine platforms. Its modular construction allows customization for home use, rural healthcare, and emergency monitoring. The invention provides a practical and accessible means of early detection and monitoring of arrhythmias and other cardiac irregularities, thereby expanding the availability of ECG diagnostics beyond clinical settings. Cardiovascular diseases are among the leading causes of mortality worldwide, and timely diagnosis plays a crucial role in reducing associated risks. Conventional electrocardiogram (ECG) machines, while accurate, are often bulky, costly, and restricted to clinical environments. This project presents the design and development of a portable ECG device that enables continuous cardiac monitoring outside of hospital settings. The system integrates an ECG sensor with an Arduino Mega microcontroller, a TFT 3.5" display for real- time wavefom1 visualization, rechargeable Li-ion battery for mobility, and simple user interface buttons for ease of operation. The device offers a lightweight, compact, and cost-effective solution for early detection of arrhythmias and cardiac irregularities, empowering patients to monitor heart health conveniently at home or in remote areas. Its portability ensures wider accessibility, while real-time data display enhances user awareness. Future scope includes cloud-based connectivity, AI-driven arrhythmia detection, and integration with telemedicine platforms. Overall, the portable ECG device represents a significant step toward preventive health care, providing affordable and accessible cardiac monitoring for diverse populations.
