MUMBAI, India, Sept. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641105974 A) filed by P Venkata Krishna; and . Bhavani Kumar Yellapragada on September 03, 2026, for Portable Dual-Sensor Fiber-Connected Binocular System For Twilight Space Debris Spectral Observation And Imaging.

Inventor includes . Bhavani Kumar Yellapragada.

The application for the patent was published on September 11, 2026, under issue no. 37/2026.

Abstract: A portable, low-cost dual-sensor optical system for space situational awareness is disclosed. Large-aperture astronomical binoculars are mounted on a heavy-duty tripod with a three-way geared head for multi-axis tracking. One eyepiece is adapted, through an eyepiece-to-fiber coupler and correction optics, to a portable fiber-fed CCD/CMOS spectrometer (about 200–1000 nm). The second eyepiece is coupled to an imaging device such as a smartphone camera or compact astronomical camera. The two paths share the binocular objective pair, so parallax is minimized. Simultaneous, timestamp-correlated spectra and images of sunlit space debris or satellites are obtained in twilight. The same hardware supports citizen science, STEM education and dual-use terrestrial remote sensing. Preferred components are consumer-grade and field-deployable.
