Abstract: ABSTRACT PORTABLE BONE FRAGMENT IMAGING DEVICE FOR FORENSIC HUMAN IDENTIFICATION A portable bone fragment imaging device (100) for forensic human identification includes a housing (102) defining an imaging chamber, an imaging assembly (104) positioned within the imaging chamber, a specimen support (106), at least one processor (108), and a memory (110) operatively coupled to the at least one processor (108). The imaging assembly (104) acquires images of a skeletal specimen from one or more viewing directions under visible, ultraviolet, infrared, and structured-light illumination. The at least one processor (108) calibrates the acquired images, generates a three-dimensional representation of the skeletal specimen, extracts anatomical features including osteometric landmarks, determines osteometric measurements, compares the determined osteometric measurements with reference skeletal data stored in the memory (110), reconstructs fragmented skeletal portions, determines forensic identification information including skeletal element, anatomical side, biological sex, estimated age, estimated stature, population affinity, trauma characteristics, fragment completeness, and reconstruction confidence, and generates a forensic report.
