Abstract: ABSTRACT: Title: Portable Apparatus for Spline Root Burnishing on Workpieces Using Centre Lathe and Method of Operation The present disclosure proposes a portable apparatus (100) performs spline root burnishing on centre lathes (10) for workpieces (12), which include torsion bars of heavy mobility and armored vehicles, thereby enhancing fatigue strength, durability, operational efficiency, and reducing dependence on bulky imported machinery. The portable apparatus (100) is configured as a compact detachable unit that is mounted onto the cross-slide of a conventional centre lathe and enables localized burnishing of spline root regions under controlled hydraulic pressure. The portable apparatus 100 comprises a main support plate (102), side lock assemblies (104), support blocks (106), tie rods (108), hydraulic cylinder units (110), and roller assemblies (112). The portable apparatus (100) serves as a cost-effective indigenous solution to substitute expensive imported machines, thereby reducing manufacturing costs and promoting self-reliance initiatives.
