Abstract: “POMEGRANATE-BASED ORS JELLY AND PROCESS FOR PREPARATION THEREOF” Disclosed is a A pomegranate-based oral rehydration jelly composition comprising: (a) gelatin in an amount of 2 g to 3 g as a gelling agent; (b) WHO-recommended electrolyte powder in an amount of 1.1 g to 5.4 g containing glucose, sodium chloride, potassium chloride and trisodium citrate dihydrate; (c) lyophilized pomegranate juice (Punica granatum L.) in an amount of 11 g prepared with mannitol as cryoprotectant; (d) vinegar (quantum sufficient) as pH modifier to achieve a pH in the range of 3.5 to 4.5; and (e) distilled water in an amount of 50 mL. Also provided is method of manufacturing the jelly.
