Abstract: The present invention discloses a polymeric spray-based wound dressing designated as C- MedPlantHeal-DM developed for diabetic foot ulcer therapy. The formulation comprises an aqueous leaf extract of Ficus benghalensis integrated into a chitosan-alginate polyelectrolyte complex along with pharmaceutically acceptable stabilizing and viscosity-modifying agents. Upon topical application, the spray forms a thin bioadhesive polymeric layer over the wound surface, functioning as a protective dressing while enabling sustained release of plant-derived bioactive constituents. The formulation demonstrates antioxidant potential, antimicrobial activity against wound-associated pathogens, and cytocompatibility with mammalian skin cell lines under in vitro conditions. The spray-based wound dressing supports moisture balance and uniform coverage, providing a stable and scalable therapeutic platform for diabetic foot ulcer management.
