MUMBAI, India, Aug. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611079460 A) filed by Noida Institute Of Engineering And Technology Niet on June 27, 2026, for Polymeric Dissolving Microneedle Patch Co-Delivering Methotrexate And Curcumin Nanocrystals For Intradermal Therapy.

Abstract: The present invention provides a dissolving microneedle patch for intradermal drug delivery comprising a needle-tip layer of polyvinyl alcohol and polyvinylpyrrolidone moulded into an eleven by eleven array of pyramidal microneedles of approximately one point three millimetre height, within which methotrexate nanocrystals having a mean particle diameter of one hundred to three hundred nanometres and curcumin nanocrystals having a mean particle diameter of one hundred to two hundred and fifty nanometres are co-incorporated in a methotrexate-to-curcumin weight ratio of one to five to one to twenty, supported by a drug-free polymer base layer. The nanocrystals are stabilised by Pluronic F-127 and polyvinylpyrrolidone K-30 without dimethyl sulfoxide. Upon application, the needle tip dissolves within ninety seconds, depositing the nanocrystals as an intradermal depot that releases methotrexate and curcumin in a biphasic manner over at least forty-eight hours.
