MUMBAI, India, June 30 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441101459 A) filed by B. S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute Of Science & on December 20, 2024, for Polyfloral Nanoformulation To Prevent Dental Caries Causing Candida Strains.
Inventors include Dr. S. Hemalatha; Dr. S. Ranjani; and E. Madhumitha.

Abstract: The present subject matter is a polyfloral nanoformulation comprising silver nanoparticles capped with extracts of Cassia auriculata , Syzygium aromaticum, and Calendula arvensis to prevent dental caries and postsurgical dental related infections. The biogenic nanoformulation produced various phytochemicals that have potential antifungal activity against dental pathogens, lowering the occurrence of gum disease (periodontal problems), thereby promoting and maintaining optimal oral health conditions. The findings of this study indicate that the polyherbal nanoformulation can serve as a cost-effective and innovative source of antimicrobial agents. Furthermore, it possesses the potential to be integrated as a coating material on dental implants, with the dual capability of inhibiting fungal growth and promoting osteoblast formation, thereby enhancing the implant's success and longevity.
