MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641111472 A) filed by J. J. College Of Engineering And Technology on September 17, 2026, for Polydimethylsiloxane Modified Rice Husk And Polyfurfuryl Alcohol Thermosets For Sustainable Green Composites.

Inventors include Dr. C. Karikal Chozhan; Dr. P Mathiyalagan; Dr. M. Venkatesan; Dr. A. Prabakaran; Dr. G. Punithakumari; and Mrs. P. Sangeetha.

The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.

Abstract: The proposed sustainable green composite introduces two bio-sources namely biomass-derived matrix (PFA) and agricultural waste byproduct reinforcement (rice- husk) which creates low carbon footprint. The polyfurfuryl alcohol (PFA) is used as a matrix to replace traditional epoxies and phenolic resins. The PDMS is introduced to increase the compatibility between the PVF matrix and rice-husk reinforcements. The resulting composites exhibit improved mechanical, thermal, dimensional stability, flame retardant and water repellant properties. This finds potential applications in electronic/electrical components, automotive/interior components and construction materials.
