MUMBAI, India, Sept. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641100553 A) filed by Saveetha Institute Of Medical And Technical Sciences on August 20, 2026, for Polycarbonate Reinforced With Graphene Steering Column Spacer For Automotive Steering Assemblies.

Inventors include Mr. R. Endymion Grosious; Dr Ramya Mohan; and Dr. Natrayan Lakshmaiya.

The application for the patent was published on September 11, 2026, under issue no. 37/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a steering column isolator for automotive applications, comprising a polycarbonate (PC) composite reinforced with graphene. The incorporation of graphene enhances mechanical stiffness and vibration damping, reducing transmission of vibrations from the engine and road to the steering column. The spacer exhibits improved durability, dimensional stability, and resistance to mechanical fatigue under prolonged use. The component can be manufactured using injection moulding or precision moulding processes, ensuring high dimensional accuracy, reproducibility, and cost-effective mass production. The invention provides a lightweight, durable, and efficient anti-vibration solution, improving driver comfort and vehicle safety.
