MUMBAI, India, Aug. 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641080278 A) filed by Saveetha Institute Of Medical And Technical Sciences on June 30, 2026, for Polycarbonate-Basalt Fiber Intake Manifold Resonator Chamber For Automotive Air-Intake Systems.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an intake manifold resonator chamber manufactured using a polycarbonate-basalt fibre composite material. Conventional air intake resonators made from polypropylene, nylon, or unreinforced polymers often experience thermal deformation, inadequate acoustic damping, and reduced structural strength under prolonged engine operation. The proposed invention utilizes a polycarbonate matrix reinforced with basalt fibres, providing superior high- temperature tolerance, improved vibration and acoustic damping, and enhanced mechanical rigidity while maintaining a lightweight structure. The composite resonator chamber withstands continuous exposure to engine heat and pulsating airflow, effectively reducing intake noise and preventing structural fatigue or cracking. By integrating advanced composite material properties with optimized chamber geometry, the invention delivers a durable, heat-resistant, and acoustically efficient resonator suitable for modem a u t ^ ^ iv ^ air^ ta k e. systems.
