Abstract: The invention discloses poly(azomethine)/ZnO (PNZ) and poly(azomethine)/TiO2 (PNT) nanocomposite photocatalysts for solar- driven degradation of anionic textile dyes. PAZ is synthesised by polycondensation of 4,4'-diformyl biphenyl with p- phenylenediamine. ZnO (particle size 32 nm, hexagonal) and TiO2 (29 nm, anatase) nanop articles are incorporated into PAZ by ultrasonic dispersion-precipitation from DMF/acetone media. The resulting PNZ and PNT nanocomposites exhibit reduced band gaps (2.90 and 2.89 eV respectively) with red-shifted Am ax (760 and 665 nm), enabling visible-light photoactivation under natural sunlight. PNZ achieves 87% degradation of methyl orange and 86% degradation of Alizarin Red S at 10 ppm in 5 hours under natural sunlight using 100 mg catalyst dosage, outperforming bare ZnO, TiO?, PAZ, and PNT. Degradation follows pseudo-first-order kinetics (R2 = 0.993 0.998) and Langmuir isotherm (RL = 0.892-0.987). The photomechanism involves PAZ-sensitised electron injection into the metal oxide conduction band, generating *OH and O?'" radicals that mineralise dye chromophores. FTIR, XRD, SEM, and EDAX confirm structural integrity post photocatalysis. The invention provides a low-cost, solar-activated, reusable photocatalyst for industrial waste water treatment. The proposed patent on Poly(azomethine)/ZnO (PNZ) and Poly(azomethine)/TiO2 (PNT) Nanocomposite Photocatalysts for Solar-Driven Photodegradation of Anionic Textile Dyes delivers the following significant outcomes: Superior Dye Degradation Performance • Achieved high photocatalytic removal efficiencies under natural sunlight: 87% degradation of Methyl Orange (MO) 86% degradation of Alizarin Red S (ARS) • Performance significantly exceeded that of bare ZnO, TiO?, and PAZ catalysts. Cost-Effective Solar Wastewater Treatment • Eliminated the need for external energy-intensive UV irradiation systems.
