MUMBAI, India, Oct. 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641112522 A) filed by A. Vijaya Bhasker Reddy; Deshapaga Nirmala; and B. Vijay Kumar on September 19, 2026, for Pollensignum: A Combinatorial Pollen-Based Nano-Optical Authentication System With Spatially Encoded Biological Signatures.

Inventors include A. Vijaya Bhasker Reddy; Deshpaga Nirmala; and B. Vijay Kumar.

The application for the patent was published on October 02, 2026, under issue no. 40/2026.

Abstract: The present invention provides a combinatorial biological–nano-optical authentication system for covert and forensic authentication of articles. The system comprises a reference library of taxonomically authenticated pollen types having distinguishable morphological characteristics, an authentication composition comprising one or more selected pollen types, and a nanoscale optical material associated with the selected pollen. The optical material preferably comprises zinc oxide and provides a measurable optical signature, while the pollen provides a biological signature. The biological and optical characteristics are registered in association with an authentication record and are jointly used for authentication. The authentication composition may be incorporated into an article-associated security structure, including a sealed optically interrogable micro-container, security thread, embedded region, label or packaging structure. Multiple pollen types may be combinatorially selected and optionally distributed according to predetermined spatial positions. Authentication may comprise optical interrogation, microscopic pollen identification, optical characterization, combinatorial verification and forensic recovery.
