Abstract: Sickle cell anemia, a genetic disorder within the sickle cell disease spectrum, results from the polymerization of abnormal hemoglobin S (HbS), leading to deformed, stiffened red blood cells with reduced lifespan. The present disclosure relates to a lateral flow immuno- poly chromatographic assay strip for determining the presence of sickle cell hemoglobin (HbS) in a sample comprising: a sample pad, a conjugate pad, a nitrocellulose membrane, an absorbent pad, and an assay cassette accommodating the said components. The present disclosure also relates to a method for preparation of lateral flow immuno-poly chromatographic assay strip as described herein. In the present disclosure, there is provided an assay for determining the presence of sickle cell haemoglobin (HbS) in a sample using the present lateral flow immuno-poly chromatographic strip.
