Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a pneumatic lifter unit and an actuation mechanism for assisting mounting and positioning of a blow mold unit on a machine platen. The pneumatic lifter unit (104, 106) includes a housing (104a, 106a), an internal air passage (128), a compressed-air inlet port (126), an actuation piston (132), and a load transfer arrangement having a primary load-bearing ball (134) and a plurality of secondary bearing balls (136). Compressed air provided through the compressed- air inlet port (126) causes the actuation piston (132) to move from a non-actuated position to an actuated position, thereby causing the primary load-bearing ball to move downwardly into engagement with the machine platen. The blow mold unit (102) is thereby lifted relative to the machine platen, facilitating movement and positioning of the blow mold unit on the machine platen.
