Abstract: A plugging element for sealing an opening in a vehicle component is disclosed. The plugging element comprises 5 a sealing body to conform to the opening. The sealing body comprises a central section and a locking section connected to the central section to secure the plugging element in the opening. Further, a lip is formed at the rim of the sealing body. The lip is to abut against a surface around the opening to provide a sealing effect. The sealing body and the lip comprise a first layer made of 10 a polymeric material and a second layer, moulded over the first layer, made of an elastomeric material. The ratio of a cross-sectional thickness of the first layer to a cross-sectional thickness of the second layer varies across the lip and different sections of the sealing body.
