Abstract: The present invention relates to a compact three-axis CO2 laser cutting and engraving machine for processing acrylic, wood, MDF, leather, paper, fabric and other non- metallic materials. The machine comprises a fabricated cabinet, a sealed 40 W CO2 laser tube, an optical delivery assembly, a honeycomb work bed, air-assist and water-cooling systems, and motor-driven X-, Y- and Z-axis mechanisms. Stepper motors and drivers provide controlled movement, while the Z-axis vertically positions the laser head relative to a workpiece to establish a suitable processing height for different material thicknesses. An in-house developed STM32-based embedded controller with custom peripheral circuitry coordinates axis movement, regulates motor speed, controls laser activation and output power, monitors limit-switch and operator inputs, and executes cutting and engraving instructions. A PlotBot graphical user interface supports raster and vector design formats, provides job execution, speed and power adjustment, and enables software-controlled Z-axis UP/DOWN movement together with manual button control.
