Abstract: The present invention relates to a new coating and a new method for producing said new coating, wherein the new coating comprises at least one polycrystalline diamond coating layer of the type nanodiamond coating layer, whose crystallite grains have a crystallite grain size in nanometer range, i.e. lower or equal to 100 nm, wherein the new coating exhibits enhanced wear resistance and make possible to attain enhanced cutting tools performance in cutting operations.
