The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to PlantTrace, an adaptive computer-vision-based system for individual plant growth and health monitoring in farm environments. The system captures images of groups of plants, detects individual plant instances, assigns and maintains persistent Plant IDs, and stores successive observations in corresponding temporal plant profiles. Plant characteristics including height, canopy width, canopy area, colour characteristics, and visible disease-related regions are obtained through image analysis. During subsequent observations, plants are re-identified using available visual, structural, spatial, temporal, and neighbourhood- context information. The current condition of an identified plant is compared with its own historical observations and with selected neighbouring plants. Based on these comparisons, the system identifies abnormal changes in plant growth or visible health characteristics and associates the assessment with the corresponding Plant ID and farm location. The invention thereby enables longitudinal individual-plant monitoring and localization of plants requiring further inspection within groups of farm crops.
