Abstract: ABSTRACT Pitting Corrosion Reagent Spray for Quantifying Metal Ions and Corrosion-Causing Agents The present invention provides a method for detecting pitting corrosion on metal surfaces using a reagent solution [100] that contains chelating agents and color-forming compounds. This solution reacts with metal ions or corrosion agents, resulting in a color change that indicates the level of corrosion. The method is designed to be applied in field settings, with a spray bottle or misting nozzle [101 ]ensuring uniform coverage of the surface. The color change is proportional to the concentration of corrosion-causing agents, allowing for both qualitative and quantitative analysis. The reagent solution includes various compounds, such as 1,10-Phenanthroline, FerroZine, and Sodium Citrate, to enhance sensitivity to specific metal ions. The degree of corrosion is quantified by measuring the color change using spectrophotometry or a color comparison chart. This approach offers rapid and reliable corrosion detection, suitable for metals like stainless steel, aluminum, and copper, without requiring laboratory testing.
