Abstract: ABSTRACT Traffic congestion and emergency response delays are major urban challenges to a Vehicular Ad-Hoc Network (VANET) based Emergency Vehicle Alert System using Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) is proposed, enhancing communication to facilitate smoother movement for emergency vehicles VANET, a subset of Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks (MANETs), enables real-time vehicle communication without centralized infrastructure. Emergency vehicles use dedicated short- range communication (DSRC) modules to broadcast alerts. Nearby vehicles receive these signals, assess RSSI values, and take necessary actions such as displaying warnings or triggering automated responses. RSSI estimates vehicle distances, ensuring alerts reach relevant vehicles. As emergency vehicles approach intersections or congested areas, signals are received by nearby vehicles, categorizing them based on -proximity. Stronger signals indicate closer vehicles, ensuring immediate alerts. The RSSI -range predicts distances up to 300 meters with an accuracy of ±5 meters, considering environmental factors like obstacles and interference. The emergency vehicle unit includes a VANET-enabled transceiver and an RSSIbased localization system. Comparisons with traditional siren-based alerts show. VANET-based RSSI alerts are more reliable, especially in noisy environments. Unlike RSSI reduces costs and improves feasibility.
