MUMBAI, India, Sept. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611086595 A) filed by Maharishi Markandeshwar Deemed To Be University on July 15, 2026, for Pinus Roxburghii Extract Mediated Silver Copper Oxide Bimetallic Nanoparticles Possessing Anti- Bacterial And Anti-Cancer Properties.

Inventors include Reena V. Saini; Adesh K. Saini; and Nancy Garg.

The application for the patent was published on September 11, 2026, under issue no. 37/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a green method for the synthesis of Pinus roxburghii extract-mediated silver–copper oxide (Ag–CuO) bimetallic nanoparticles. Fresh Pinus roxburghii needles are processed to obtain a methanolic extract by maceration at 37°C, which is subsequently used as a reducing and stabilizing agent for nanoparticle synthesis. Silver nitrate (1 mM) and copper nitrate (5 mM) solutions are added to a 10% methanolic extract of Pinus roxburghii under aseptic conditions with constant stirring at 60–70°C for 5 minutes to produce silver–copper oxide bimetallic nanoparticles. The synthesized nanoparticles are recovered by centrifugation, washed with Milli-Q water, and either dispersed in Milli-Q water or oven dried at 40°C for storage. The successful formation of the nanoparticles is confirmed by characteristic colour changes and UV–Visible spectroscopy showing absorption peaks at approximately 260 nm and 340 nm, indicating the formation of silver–copper oxide bimetallic nanoparticles with enhanced physicochemical properties.
