MUMBAI, India, Aug. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641101126 A) filed by Srm University-Ap on August 21, 2026, for Phytoremediation System For Removal Of Organic And Inorganic Effluents From Wastewater And Method Thereof.

Inventors include Rashmi Ranjan Mandal; Zahid Bashir; and Deep Raj.

The application for the patent was published on August 28, 2026, under issue no. 35/2026.

Abstract: The present invention provides a multi-tier phytoremediation system (100) and method for real-time monitoring and removal of organic and inorganic effluents from wastewater. The system (100) comprises a multi-tier hydraulic structure (200) having an inclined support frame (202) housing eight zig-zag horizontal treatment channels (204) linked by gravity-assisted piping (206), intermediate containment reservoirs (208) to regulate flow, and instrumentation mounts (210). A distributed sensing network with ESP32 microcontrollers (300) continuously measures pH, EC, TDS, and DO across all stages. An IoT gateway (400) streams time-stamped data to cloud management (500) for time-series archiving. A Python-based AI analytics engine (600) executes predictive forecasting, evaluates removal efficiencies, and detects anomalies or sensor malfunctions. A web visualization dashboard (700) displays real-time stage-wise metrics, alerts, and enables data export. Figure of Abstract –
