Abstract: The present study aimed to evaluate the phytochemical composition and in vitro anti-anaemic activity of Justicia tranquebariensis L.f. Aqueous extracts of leaves, roots, stems, and the whole plant were prepared and subjected to preliminary phytochemical Screening. In vitro iron estimation was performed using the Ortho-phenanthroline method, and absorbance was measured at 510 nm using a UV–Visible spectrophotometer. Phytochemical analysis revealed the presence of alkaloids, carbohydrates, flavonoids, and tannins in the aqueous extract. Among the plant parts studied, leaf and root extracts exhibited higher absorbance values, indicating greater iron-chelating potential compared to stem and whole plant extracts. The highest activity was observed at the first dilution (5 mg/mL). The findings suggest that Justicia tranquebariensis, particularly its leaves and roots, possesses significant in vitro anti-anaemic potential and may serve as a promising natural source for iron supplementation. Further in vivo and clinical studies are warranted to validate its therapeutic efficacy.
