Abstract: The present invention relates to an aqueous extract of Crinum latifolium leaves belonging to the family Amaryllidaceae, exhibiting significant antioxidant and antimicrobial properties. The extract is prepared by maceration of shade-dried, powdered leaves in water and is characterized by the presence of alkaloids, glycosides, flavonoids, diterpenes, phenols, carbohydrates, and saponins. Antioxidant evaluation by DPPH assay reveals 75.46% inhibition at 100 µg/mL with IC50 of 42.35 µg/mL, and superoxide radical scavenging assay shows 69.04% inhibition at 100 µg/mL with IC50 of 57.94 µg/mL. Antimicrobial evaluation by well-diffusion method demonstrates effective activity against Streptococcus mutans (25±0.94 mm), Salmonella bongori (16±0.47 mm), and Candida albicans (10±0.57 mm) at 100 mg/mL. The invention provides a cost-effective, scalable process yielding a bioactive extract suitable for pharmaceutical and nutraceutical applications.
