MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621097193 A) filed by Lnct University, Bhopal on August 12, 2026, for Phytochemical-Assisted Synthesis Of Gold Nanoparticles From Ichnocarpus Frutescens For Topical Drug Delivery Applications.
Inventors include Ms. Chanchal Jain; and Dr. Akhlesh Kumar Singhai.
The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a phytochemical-assisted method for synthesizing, optimizing, characterizing, and delivering gold nanoparticles containing bioactive constituents derived from Ichnocarpus frutescens. A gold precursor solution and plant-derived phytochemicals function as reducing, capping, and stabilizing agents during nanoparticle formation. Reaction temperature, incubation time, and plant extract concentration are optimized using a statistical experimental design to obtain nanoparticles with controlled particle size, high entrapment efficiency, excellent colloidal stability, and uniform distribution. The optimized nanoparticles exhibit nanoscale particle size, negative zeta potential, low polydispersity index, and enhanced stability. The nanoparticles are suitable for incorporation into topical pharmaceutical, dermatological, wound-healing, antimicrobial, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and cosmeceutical formulations. The invention further provides a reproducible, eco-friendly, and scalable platform for manufacturing herbal gold nanoparticles intended for topical drug delivery applications.
