MUMBAI, India, Oct. 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611101518 A) filed by Chandigarh University on August 22, 2026, for Physics-Informed Intelligent Cryogenic Hydrogen Storage And Boil-Off Suppression System.
Inventors include Deepak Kumar; Sunil Kumar; and Shaman Sharma.
The application for the patent was published on October 02, 2026, under issue no. 40/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an intelligent cryogenic hydrogen storage and boil-off suppression system configured to reduce hydrogen losses during storage and transportation. 5 The system comprises a cryogenic hydrogen storage vessel, a multimodal sensing network, an edge computing platform, an artificial intelligence-based prediction engine, a real-time digital twin, a closed-loop intelligent controller, and an ultrasonic actuation subsystem. The sensing network continuously acquires temperature, pressure, strain, acoustic emission, and motion data, which are processed by the edge computing platform to estimate 10 thermodynamic conditions and update the digital twin. The intelligent controller determines optimized ultrasonic excitation parameters for driving the ultrasonic actuation subsystem to generate controlled acoustic streaming within stored liquid hydrogen or slush hydrogen. The generated acoustic fields reduce thermal stratification, suppress vapor nucleation, maintain phase stability, and minimize boil-off gas generation. The system 15 further incorporates adaptive feedback control and fault-tolerant sensor validation to ensure reliable operation under stationary and dynamic cryogenic storage conditions.
