Abstract: The present application relates to a physical layer configuration method and device for UWB ranging. The method comprises: generating and sending a universal physical layer configuration field, the universal physical layer configuration field comprising a first field, and the first field being used for indicating a combination of radio technology used at multiple phases of an initialization and setup phase, a control phase, a ranging phase, and a reporting phase. The present application can improve the physical layer configuration in a ranging session. The present application supports UWB protocols, including 802.15 series protocols such as 802.15.4ab protocols or the next-generation standard protocols thereof. The present application also supports 802.11be/WiFi 7/EHT protocols, 802.11bn/WiFi 8/UHR protocols, integrated millimeter wave (IMMW) protocols, and the like. The present application also supports sensing protocols such as 802.11bf protocols, and SparkLink/NearLink standard protocols.
