MUMBAI, India, Aug. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611083496 A) filed by Nims University Rajasthan, Jaipur on July 07, 2026, for Photosynthetic Biochar-Algae Membrane System.

Inventors include Dr. R. Sanjeevi; and B Gyani Priyanka Patnaik.

The application for the patent was published on August 28, 2026, under issue no. 35/2026.

Abstract: The invention provides an AI-integrated photosynthetic biochar-algae membrane system (101) for the simultaneous removal of heavy metals and microplastics from wastewater. The system comprises a biochar-algae composite membrane unit (102) having a triple- layer functional design with a porous biochar matrix (104), an immobilized algal layer (105), and an embedded multi-sensor conductive network (106). An AI processing and control unit (107) integrated with machine learning algorithms (108) performs predictive saturation forecasting and dynamic optimization of operational parameters including light intensity, nutrient dosing, and flow rate. The system autonomously initiates a self-regeneration mechanism (110) involving desorption and photosynthetic recovery to sustain multi-cycle operation. An IoT-enabled interface (111) enables real-time monitoring, analytics, and compliance reporting. The invention provides an intelligent, self-sustaining, and scalable solution for decentralized wastewater treatment, achieving dual pollutant removal with high efficiency and minimal energy input.
