Abstract: ABSTRACT Phasic Difference-Based Water Quantification for Integrated Cut-Off Spot Test and Quantitative Analysis in Gasoline and Diesel Fuels The present invention provides a method and reagent system for quantifying water content in gasoline and diesel samples. It utilizes Cobalt(II) chloride (CoCl2) [103] as a reagent that interacts with both the gasoline or diesel phase and the bottom phase. In the absence of water, the reagent forms a blue-purple color in the gasoline phase [101], indicating no water presence. When water is present, the gasoline phase remains clear, and the reagent forms a pink color in the bottom phase [102], allowing for visual detection and quantification of water content. The intensity of the pink color is proportional to the water content, enabling accurate measurement through photometric or colorimetric techniques. The invention provides versatility in reagent application, as CoCl2 can be used in solid, liquid, or gas form. The method allows customization of thresholds based on sample volume and reagent concentration, making it adaptable to industry standards. This system can detect water concentrations as low as 0.1%, offering a highly sensitive and reliable tool for water content analysis in fuels.
