Abstract: ABSTRACT PHASE-TRANSFORMATION PHYSICALLY UNCLONABLE FUNCTION SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ATTESTING RETRIEVAL ACCESS TO A DATA CORPUS An attestation system (100) for controlling retrieval access to a data corpus includes a phase-transformation physically unclonable function element (124) of shape-memory alloy undergoing a reversible martensitic transformation, a trajectory driver (122) heating the element (124), a sensing bridge (112) measuring element resistance, and a controller (116). A retrieval gateway (132) issues a nonce for each query from a retrieval-augmented generation client (102). The controller (116) derives from the nonce a thermal trajectory reversed within the transformation range, causes the trajectory to be executed on the element (124), and derives a cryptographic secret from the resistance measured along the return path, which depends on reversal placement and element-specific transformation characteristics. When an achieved trajectory lies within an enrolled thermal envelope for an authorized tool and the resistance reconstructs an enrolled cryptographic secret, the retrieval gateway (132) releases encrypted vector-store shards (136); otherwise, retrieval is refused.
