Abstract: The present invention relates to a phase change material (PCM)-integrated non-autoclaved aerated geopolymer masonry unit and a method of manufacturing the same. The masonry unit comprises an aerated geopolymer matrix prepared from a geopolymer binder including ground granulated blast furnace slag and rice husk ash, an alkaline activator, a fine aggregate and an aerating agent, with macro-encapsulated phase change material capsules embedded within the aerated geopolymer matrix. Each macro-encapsulated phase change material capsule comprises paraffin wax enclosed within an aluminium enclosure to facilitate latent heat storage and release through thermal interaction with the surrounding geopolymer matrix during heating and cooling cycles. The method comprises preparing the geopolymer mixture, encapsulating the phase change material, embedding the macro-encapsulated phase change material capsules within the geopolymer matrix, casting and non-autoclaved curing to obtain a thermally regulated masonry unit for energy-efficient building applications.
