Abstract: ABSTRACT [0036] Clinacanthus nutans belongs to the family Acanthaceae, commonly known as Sabah snake grass, is a medicinal herb traditionally used for treating inflammation, infections, and blood-related disorders. The present study aimed to evaluate the in-vitro thrombolytic and anti-inflammatory activities of Clinacanthus nutans leaf extract. The dried ethanolic leaf extract was prepared using suitable solvents and subjected to pharmacological screening. Thrombolytic activity was determined by the clot lysis method, where the extract showed a concentration-dependent ability to dissolve blood clots.Anti-inflammatory activity was assessed using protein denaturation inhibition and membrane stabilization assays, in which the extract exhibited significant protective effects. These activities may be attributed to phytoconstituents such as flavonoids and phenolic compounds present in the plant. The findings support the traditional use of Clinacanthus nutans and suggest its potential as a natural source for developing safer anti-inflammatory and thrombolytic agents.
