Inventors include Ms. Moumita Banerjee; Dr. Navyasree Ks; Ms. Annupriya; Mr. Uday S H; Mr. Chetan Savukar; and Mr. Ritesh Das.
The application for the patent was published on September 11, 2026, under issue no. 37/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition comprising cefepime and naringin in a co-amorphous nanoparticulate form and a process for preparation thereof. Naringin functions as a co-former and interacts with cefepime to stabilize the co-amorphous state. The composition may further comprise hydroxypropyl cellulose as a polymeric stabilizer and mannitol as a dispersing and moisture-stabilizing excipient. Cefepime:naringin molar ratios including 1:1, 1:2 and 2:1 are contemplated. The process comprises dissolving cefepime and naringin in a hydroalcoholic solvent, dispersing hydroxypropyl cellulose and mannitol in warm water, combining the phases under stirring, evaporating solvent, drying the resulting viscous mass, pulverizing and sieving. The disclosed optimized formulation exhibited increased aqueous solubility, improved dissolution behavior and reduced recrystallization relative to pure cefepime, thereby providing a formulation platform suitable for development of oral pharmaceutical dosage forms.
