MUMBAI, India, Aug. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621084065 A) filed by Mahendrakumar Ramrang Dubey on July 08, 2026, for Ph-Sensitive Bioadhesive Microspheres For Enhanced Calcium Bioavailability.
Inventors include Mahendrakumar Ramrang Dubey; and Dr. Vipul P. Patel.
The application for the patent was published on August 28, 2026, under issue no. 35/2026.
Abstract: “pH-Sensitive Bioadhesive Microspheres for Enhanced Calcium Bioavailability” The present invention relates to a pH-sensitive bioadhesive microsphere composition for enhancing calcium bioavailability. The composition comprises a probiotic strain of Lactobacillus plantarum, milk-derived calcium, Vitamin D3, and a pH-sensitive polymeric matrix, wherein the probiotic, milk-derived calcium, and Vitamin D3 are co-encapsulated within the same microsphere. The microspheres remain stable under gastric conditions and provide controlled release of the encapsulated components under intestinal pH conditions. The polymeric matrix exhibits bioadhesive properties that prolong residence of the microspheres at the intestinal mucosal surface, thereby facilitating intestinal calcium absorption. The composition is suitable for incorporation into nutraceutical and pharmaceutical oral dosage forms for improving calcium bioavailability.
