MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611111067 A) filed by Noida Institute Of Engineering And Technology Pharmacy Institute on September 16, 2026, for Ph-Responsive Film-Forming Nanoemulsion Spray With Dual Antifungal And Biofilm-Disrupting Agent.

Inventors include Ranjeet Kumar Yadav; and Himanshu Singh.

The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a pH-responsive film-forming nanoemulsion spray formulation for enhanced topical treatment of superficial fungal infections comprising ketoconazole and terbinafine hydrochloride co-loaded within oleic acid-based oil-in-water nanoemulsion globules of 80 to 180 nanometers, combined with N-acetylcysteine as a biofilm-disrupting agent and chitosan as a pH-responsive mucoadhesive film-forming biopolymer. The spray formulation transitions upon application into a transparent, flexible, breathable film providing sustained drug release with pH-responsive acceleration at infection sites. The dual antifungal combination achieves synergistic fungicidal activity with fractional inhibitory concentration index below 0.5. N-acetylcysteine disrupts fungal biofilm matrices achieving over 70 percent biofilm biomass reduction. The complete combined formulation demonstrates synergistic efficacy substantially exceeding individual component contributions, confirming true synergy. The invention provides non-contact spray application, infection-responsive self-regulating release, excellent 180-day stability, and a unified platform addressing antifungal resistance and biofilm-mediated treatment failure.
