Abstract: A proposed system is a computer-based online service that uses artificial intelligence to evaluate an animal's health and to help make it easier for people to be able to utilize all the services provided by veterinarians. The system is referred to as an interactive veterinary assistant, and it allows pet owners to upload pictures of their pet and input symptoms related to the pet's health. The system takes the input information, applies AI analysis, and will categorize pets' health, as classified by the system, based on the probability that their pets are at risk for medical issues (e.g., minor risk, moderate risk, and severe risk). The assessment provided by the system will lead to three different levels of medical response for the pet, depending on the type of assessment conducted. Minor-risk assessments will lead to the pet receiving basic recommendations for caring for their pet and information about how to avoid future issues. Moderate-risk assessments will lead to the pet receiving virtual assistance and recommendations regarding how to monitor their pet. Severe-risk assessments will lead to emergency assistance for their pet, including recommendations to schedule visits to the veterinarian at the pet owner's home or recommendations for immediate medical care. Digital health records are available for all of the animals using the system throughout their lives and can be used by the pet owners and veterinarians to assess the animals' medical history so they can be diagnosed and treated. Because of the integration of artificial intelligence and telemedicine, the system provides better access to veterinary healthcare services by facilitating earlier detection of animal diseases; decreasing the number of visits that are made to a veterinarian; and enabling better access to animal health care.
