Abstract: The PeriSure: Smart Postpartum Pad is a novel healthcare device designed to enhance postpartum hygiene and early detection of complications in women after childbirth. It employs a scientifically validated colour-change mechanism using safe, pH-sensitive and temperature-sensitive indicators embedded within the absorbent layers of the pad. This mechanism allows visual identification of infections, abnormal lochia, and excessive postpartum bleeding, thus enabling timely medical intervention. The PeriSure pad consists of multiple layers including a soft hypoallergenic top sheet, an absorbent core with integrated indicators, and a breathable waterproof back sheet. This product aims to improve postpartum care outcomes in both healthcare facilities and home settings, particularly in India where postpartum infections remain a significant concern.
