Abstract: A multilayered functional chewing gum formulation designated PERIOFIT is disclosed, comprising a xylitol-based outer shell layer, a middle gum base layer incorporating CPP-ACP and zinc citrate, and an inner core containing microencapsulated neem extract and epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) encapsulated in hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) shells of 50-200 micron particle size. The formulation is presented in an oblate pellet form measuring a diameter of 10-14 mm and a height of 6-10 mm, with a pearl-white outer surface and visible botanical microparticles in cross-section. The layered architecture provides a sequential controlled-release mechanism triggered by masticatory pressure, delivering xylitol-mediated salivary stimulation immediately upon chewing, followed by CPP-ACP and zinc citrate for enamel remineralization and breath control at an intermediate phase, and subsequently releasing encapsulated botanical actives for antibacterial and anti-inflammatory periodontal activity during sustained chewing. The gum base is formulated to provide an optimized chew resistance of 150-300 g/cm2, facilitating masticatory muscle exercise and TMJ conditioning. The invention provides a complete, palatable, sugar-free oral wellness chewing gum suitable for daily use and nutraceutical classification under applicable regulatory frameworks.
