Abstract: ABSTRACT The present invention relates to the field of digital image and video processing, and more particularly to a system for enhancing the quality of video captured in drone surveillance applications using region-based image enhancement techniques. Videos obtained from drone cameras often suffer from issues such as low resolution, poor contrasty noise, and lack of sharpness, which reduce their effectiveness for monitoring and analysis purposes. _ The proposed system provides an automated and efficient approach for improving both local and global visual quality of video frames. The system comprises a video input module, frame extraction module, region detection module, local enhancement module, global enhancement module, and output video generation module. The video input module reads the input video, and frames are extracted sequentially for processing. The region detection module identifies regions of interest within each frame using computational techniques. The local enhancement module selectively enhances these regions by performing operations such as cropping, upscaling using interpolation, noise reduction through filtering, contrast adjustment, and image sharpening to improve clarity. The enhanced regions are then merged back into the original frames. In addition to localized processing, the global enhancement module improves the overall frame quality by applying resizing, contrast stretching, and sharpening techniques to the entire frame. The processed fi'ames are then combined to generate a high-quality output video with improved resolution, contrast, and visual clarity. The invention provides a significant improvement over conventional uniform enhancement methods by focusing on important regions while also enhancing the entire frame. The system operates automatically and is suitable for real-time or offline processing in surveillance applications.
